Rebel Sewing Skills: Intro to Appliqué
Welcome to the Rebel Sewing Skills!
This hands-on series teaches essential techniques for extending garment life, reducing waste, and building community resilience.
In our 5th workshop in this series, we’ll learn the basics of Appliqué! I’ll guide you through the process of cutting out fun little patches and show you various methods for stitching onto your garments.
Appliqué is a great technique for covering stains, holes, or to simply add a little embellishment onto something.
I’ll provide a wide variety of fabrics and appliqué patterns for this workshop. Bring a garment that you’d like to stitch something onto (something that is NOT stretchy - like a button down shirt, jeans, pants, or a jacket). If you don’t have anything, I’ll have some button down shirts you can choose from to add appliqué to.
Workshop Details:
Saturday, December 13th, 1 pm - 3 pm
Bring-Your-Own-Sewing-Machine or have one provided (supplies limited!)
Skill Level: This class is suitable for Beginners! The only skill level requirement is that students should be comfortable with threading a sewing machine and sewing a straight stitch. As long as you know those 2 things, you’ll be great!
What to Bring:
Sewing machine (if you have one)
Non-stretchy shirt, jacket, tote bag or pants you’d like to add appliqué to
Fabric scissors (if you have them)
Pins and measuring tape (if you have them)
What's Provided:
Thread in various colors
Wide selection of upcycled fabrics for appliqué
Pattern pieces
Xtra button down shirts in case you don’t have a garment to sew onto

Please note- the entrance to this residence is not wheelchair accessible, so please let us know if you require any special accommodations and we can discuss some options!
